Look In My Heart

I am a sucker for actresses that sing. If you peeked through my CD collection you'd find CDs by the likes of Cree Summer, Nia Peeples, Tricia Leigh Fisher, Milla Jovovich, Bijou Phillips, Minnie Driver, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jasmine Guy...I could go on for hours. But one that I never went out of my way to get into was Alyssa Milano. During the late 80s and part of the early 90s she had a huge singing career in Asia. While I never bothered to check out some of music, I found this video on youtube and now I know I have to track down everything she's EVER recorded! Can you blame Asia for loving her so? This shit is so awful it's good! I don't know what I love more, her god awful bleached jeans paired w/ a hockey jersey (that's a hockey jersey right?), the pink bridesmaid/prom dress from hell or her "dancing"? Why not judge for yourself and check out this gem entitled Look In My Heart:

Four(skin)

Ok so this post isn't about foreskin, but I wanted something funny for my title. My twin blogger had this survey up on her site and asked that other Chicago bloggers do the same. So humor me as I happily oblige :)

Four Jobs I've Had In My Life in Chicago:
I've only had one job since living here for 6.5 years (lame I know). Art Director @ an ad agency.

Four Movies Set in Chicago I Could Watch Over And Over:
Sixteen Candles (ok it's the burbs...but it's close enough!)
Breakfast Club (see above)
Adventures in Babysitting (I'm stealing this from my twinny; actually I haven't seen this in years!)
High Fidelity

Four Places I've Lived In Chicago:
Little Village (when my parents got remarried in 1985 we lived on 32nd and Kostner for a summer before moving back to Milwaukee after my grandmother died)
Uptown (my apartment, a studio, was off the Argyle stop on the red line; 1999)
Bridgeport (Shitport as I dubbed it, the rent was REALLY cheap; 2000-2004)
Logan Square (my current home and the best neighborhood in Chicago! 2005-present)

Four Chicago-Themed Shows I Love(d) To Watch:
Married With Children
Webster
Punky Brewster
The Loop

Four Places I Would Vacation At In Chicago:
The W Hotel
Swiss Hotel
Virgin Megastore (I could have a shopping spree!)

Four Chicago-Based Websites I Visit Daily:
musicbeing (my boo boo)
chicago sexbox (my milwaukee sister)
espelina (my twin blogger)
chargenda (charlie, because he can throw down w/ some avenue d)
boomtacular (the homos of the PNS Explosion's blog...hilarious!)

Four Of My Favorite Foods Found In Chicago:

Four Places In Chicago I Would Rather Be Right Now:
cd shopping
drunk at Roscoe's on a sunday night (queening out w/ my equally drunk bf and MS)
taking my baby out for a nice walk
at dinner w/ friends

Beefaroni

I usually leave the beefaroni entries to my Milwaukee Sister. But I had to gush over this random hottness. I've had a crush on Jerry O'Connell for years. He's hot! Have you seen him on the cover of the newest issue of MEN'S FITNESS?? I couldn't find the cover online anywhere, but trust me he looks HOT! But when searching for some hottie pics of Jerry I came across this one...

Image hosting by Photobucket

Grrr indead!

In other news I have begun the search for an apartment for my boo boo, Chus and I. I know it's super early but, I always say it's never too early to start looking. Thus far I haven't found anything that wows me yet. There were a few I thought might be good but once I found out it didn't have a dishwasher....oh no! See I never had a dishwasher in my life until we moved into our current place and let me tell you I don't know how I went so long w/out one? All I want is a 2 bedroom (a den as well would be nice), hard wood floors (I don't do carpeting), dishwasher, central air/heat, laundry on site (in unit is even better), parking, dog friendly (that is #1 on my list) in the same 'hood we're in now. What's so hard about that? Wish me luck.

In other news my Sista M and I are equally upset to hear that after waiting what seems like an eternity for Dannii Minogue's new album...all we're getting is a lousy greatist hits compilation w/ 6 new songs!?!? WTF!?!? Dannii...you dissapoint me so. After the fiercest electropop album ever, NEON NIGHTS, all we get is fucking GH collection??!!?? The only good thing is supposedly there will be a DVD...but still. A GH!?!??! I can't write anymore, my favorite Minogue has let me down.

twin blogger

I just found out that today is a special day. It is my twin blogger's birthday! So I dedicate this to her...

¡Felicidades!

Reading Rainbow

So for the past 2 months or so I've been on this reading frenzy. Bored of playing solitaire or reading the latest gossip rag on my commute to and from work, I discovered this mini library that some of my coworkers started. A book club if you will. The first book I read was The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger.

It was a fun trashy read. It's being made into a movie and Meryl Streep plays Miranda Priestly! I can't wait.

Next I read High Maintenence by Jennifer Belle.

This book I didn't enjoy as much. Yes it was trashy, but it started off very slow. I didn't really get into it until about half way through.

Next was Running In Heels by British author Anna Maxted.

(What can I say I dig trashy chick books...). This I highly enjoyed and was eager to read everyday to see how the protoganist dealt w/ her eating disorder and all that was associated w/ it.

So after finishing these 3 I wanted something a bit different. My coworker suggested I read Middlesex by Jeffery Eugenides, in fact she gave me her copy.

This is from the same author who wrote The Virgin Suicides, which I adored. Needless to say I am loving this book. Loving! I am about half way done w/ it, but already it's twisted story has sucked me in.

So my question to you is any good books out there you recommend?

I have also started reading Young, Fabulous & Broke by Suze Orman.

Some people on the PNS Explosion's blog recommended this book. When I heard the title I just about died, as it fits me to a "t". Honestly I have never been at one w/ my finances so as we are about to embark a move (more on that later) I figure now is a good time as any. It's a wonderful resource and I am learning so much about things I never even cared about before. Still not done w/ it but here's hoping I can take some of her advice and run with it.

So as I mentioned above, we are about to embark on a move. Yes a move. We have to move. Our landlord's ex-wife's elderly mother (that's a mouthful isn't it?) will be moving into our apartment so they can care for her. While it sucks, I understand it's family...but this is kind of a blessing in disguise as we have been wanting to move ever since our mouse problem worsened. We have until July 1st but I'd much rather move by June 1st as to not have to deal w/ a hot summer move. If all goes according to plan we'll be moving within the same neighborhood, as we love it so much. Wish us luck! Moving's a bitch...and the packing...ugh...don't get me started.

Ta-ta!

Missing My Baby

I just realized that today marks 11 years ago that Selena was murdered. I must say, as morbid as this may sound, I am grateful for that. 11 years ago my parents opened up their Spanish language record store in Milwaukee, WI and at the time we had barely been open a few weeks. People started coming in and looking for her CDs. It was so awful how some people didn't even know who she was but would come in and say things like the following (no I am not making this up): No tienen discos de ésa, la que mataron. LOL! It's awful I know...I'm surprised her father has not released another compilation to milk her death like he does every 6 months or so. Anyhoo as a result of that business took off. If it hadn't, I would have never met many of the wonderful friends that I made back then because they were customers.

While I was looking for what picture to include I came across this one where she looks like she could have switched places w/ Jeanette Jurado from Exposé.

Image hosting by Photobucket

I swear Selena must have wanted to be a freestyle singer. My favorite Selena song ever is a pseudo freestyle song from 1989 entield MY LOVE. On the spoken linear notes of the album it came from, her brother (who I swear has to be gay) explains that they were going for a club sound a la Sweet Sensation and Exposé! Hot! In all honesty she was a hell of a singer, and I think to be a freestyle singer you either had to be nasal and tone deaf (Lil' Suzy) or loud and puerto rican (Denise Lopez, India, etc.). Ha ha!

As much as I enjoy Selena's Spanish language music, it's her English lanaguage and Spanish pop songs that I enjoy the most. I just found this live clip of her singing one of my favorite songs she's ever recorded, Missing My Baby. Enjoy!

Stepmom fever

Image hosting by PhotobucketSo the other day my booboo bought the telenovela La Madrasta (the Stepmother) on DVD. First off let me say that these condensed versions of Spanish language soaps are the best! I can totally watch them at my own leisure (I've already watched Rubi & Clase 406) and they cut out all the unimportant stuff and just get to the good stuff if you will. As the BF has already noted on his blog I have become ADDICTED to this! There are 3 double sided discs, the total running time is 11 hours, and I am already on disc 2 side 2! I love it! I totally want to come home and just watch it for hours. If I didn't have to work tomorrow I would stay up and finish the whole thing! LOL! This soap is great as it's über trashy and super addicting. But I have a question about one of the characters for those of you who have watched it. When we first meet Michelle "ass face" Vieth's character in jail w/ María (Victoria Ruffo...btw everytime they say her name I hear the theme song from Simplemente María of which she was also the protoganist), she has a Mexican accent. A few scenes later she has the most bizarre (I'm assuming) Brazilian accent! WTF!?! Can someone explain this to me?? And before you ask Sista M, there is one cute boy...

Image hosting by Photobucket

José Luis Reséndez as Greco.

Other than watching soaps on DVD I've pretty much been busy at work. I just got put on a new project for the next couple of months, and it's really exciting and I got my raise. Not much but hey, something's better than nothing.

I made a brief trek up to Milwaukee this past Friday to visit my Mom before she left to Mexico for the new 2 weeks. It was a nice night out as we went out for dinner and the obligatory trip to Potawatomi Casino where I won $86! Woo hoo! We bought groceries w/ it. Exciting I know. On the downside, our baby Chus got sick late Friday evening and most of Saturday because I wasn't home. My poor baby. He started to feel better after I got home and eventually was back to his playful self the rest of the weekend.

I haven't posted a vid in awhile. Today I am going to pick one of my favorite songs from one of my childhood idols. By 1993 Deborah Gibson was pretty much a has been but she released her best album to date, Body Mind Soul. It contains some great dance songs as well as her usual sappy ballads. But one ballad in particular stood out, that being the first single Losin' Myself. While it was not a hit, I think it barely charted at #98, it was new sound for Ms. Gibson vocally (she sings at a lower register) and musically. Plus she looks hot as a stripper in the video w/ her then new brunette hairdo. Enjoy!

Dream Virgin

Have you ever had a sex dream about a celebrity? I am sure we all have. But do you remember your first? Who took your dream virginity?

I don't remember how old I was, but I do remember I was in high school and the taker of my dream virginity...

Image hosting by Photobucket

Fernando Colunga! Grrrrr! I don't remember much of how I ended up w/ him, all I remember was he was ponding my mangina on the bathroom floor at the local swiming pool! Hot!

I've had a crush on him ever since. Even though he's a little too chiseled now, and I'm not digging the über tan. I'd still do him.

Hangover Monday

So Sunday was the infamous outing for my Milwaukee Sister's birthday. Holy shit did we get tore up! It was a blast, the combination of countless pitchers of long island ice tea, über cheesy music courtesy of our fave Bobby (she's fierce! she played Vanessa Williams, Betty Boo, Sweet Sensation, Pebbles, Michel'le, Corina, etc.), and the right people made for a fabu night! Don't ask me how many pitchers we actually drank, I lost count at 7. We met some lovely people from NYC that I befriended and talked their ears off....we ran into Charlie and his fierce boyfriend...they all watched in amazement as I performed the choreography to Deborah 'Don't Call Me Debbie' Gibson's 80s teen anthem Electric Youth...and God knows what else we did.

I don't remember what time we got home, I just remember knocking out and having eaten 3 slices of pizza at the Pie Hole. That place is so good when you're shit faced! We were pretty rowdy, so I think they asked us to leave at some point. Oh well.

I woke up with a nasty headache Monday morning, but after downing some aspirin and about a gallon of water I felt much better after going back to sleep. I think I was pondering how many drunk calls I made! LOL! I've heard 2 so far. Someone should make my greatest hits of me drunk dialing.

Being that I took Monday off in my Sista M's honor, my Boo boo and I spent the day together and took in a movie in the afternooon, Ask The Dust:

Being that I am obsessed w/ all things Salma Hayek and have an über crush on Colin Farrell, it was nice seeing them both on the big screen. My biggest complaint is that the movie was too long. What's w/ movies being 2 or more hours lately?? It didn't get interesting til about half way through, and I still don't know what Idina Menzel's character was doing in the movie. She just came out of nowhere. Enough w/ that.

I am at work awaiting feedback from our client, so I'm taking advantage and writing in my blog today.

I need to start hauling ass on a look for my blog. It's beginning to look as tired as Jay Manuel's fried bleached locks on ANTM...Scurry!!!

Ta ta!

Playas check it out

I'd just like to take a moment and say...

Image hosting by Photobucket

My Milwaukee Sister is the fiercest bitch I know! It's so funny how we knew one another while living in that shithole, I mean our hometown, via mutual friends but it wasn't until we were both living here in Chicago that we realized how fierece one another was and quickly became sistas! So to all you out there in blog land, don't think of today as St. Patrick's Day, think of today is Sista M Day! To you on your special day, I dedicate the following:

In the words of Debbie Deb, Lookout weekend here we come!. Love ya!

xoxo

Mo' Ritmo

So I was looking through some old pictures when I came across this:

Image hosting by Photobucket

Yes it's real. And yes I actually wrote a fan letter to Gerardo and he send me an autographed picture. Loser! I had such a crush on him! LOL! When did he hit big? 1991 I believe? I must have been like 14. I just can't get over what he wrote.

To my Homeboy Joe. Stay "SUAVE". Gerardo.

Lol! Can you believe I thought he was hot? He had a nice body sure, but that creepy headband and nasty hair extensions. Eeew.

To further our amusement:

I think he's a born again Christian. May the Lord be with him.

HR 4437

I've been über busy at work and therefore have not been able to blog all week. My knee is doing much better in case you care. But the point of my post is about the march that I viewed from my office window this past Friday. My coworker was in the midst of things and took some pics. She's allowed me to share some with you:

Image hosting by Photobucket

Image hosting by Photobucket

It was amazing to see how passionate all these people are about the state of immigration in the US. What was even more wonderful was that so many people from so many different backgrounds all came together for this cause. Corny as it may sound, I'm being completly honest.

I'm ashamed to say that I had no idea this march was even going to occur. Sometimes I am in my own little world. But while I was looking out the window you could see blocks and blocks of people marching all in opposition of HR 4437. This rather hits close to home for me as last year my father was deported. This is something I have never really written about in my blog just because at the time it was all too much to take in. In all honesty it is a very complex and long story that I don't feel like going into right now.

What pisses me off is the pompous attitude that so many "Americans" have regarding immigration, and illegal aliens. Unless you're a Native American than you have absolutely no right to bitch. Somewhere down the line your ancestors came here from another country. Sorry these illegal aliens are taking away such precious jobs. I am sure Miss Lily White Republican really wanted that job bussing tables at the local Mexican dive restaurant.

Anyhoo...I'd like to get off my political soapbox now.

We didn't end up seeing Anything Box last night. We were broke and in all honesty I didn't want to be standing for so long, especially since my knee is just getting better.

I am so looking forward to next Sunday as we will be going out for my Milwaukee Sister's white trash bday throwdown! It's gonna be a blast!

While looking at the Chicago Reader the other day I noticed we're in the midst of the European Film Festival here in Chicago. You can get more info on what films are playing here. There is a film from Spain that I want to see called 20 CENTIMETROS playing March 23. Anyone wanna go? Twing blogger how 'bout you??

Speaking of my Twin Blogger, her URL has changed. Visit her blog at espelina.blogspot.com.

Btw I am soooo excited that America's Next Top Model premiered last week! Nnenna all the way! Jade needs to go down!

I'm out.

Wigwam

So this past Friday I was getting up after having snoozed seven thousand times. As I extened my leg to get up something snapped. Literally. For some reason I could not move my knee, I was in an awful lot of pain. About 3 years ago I stretched a ligament in my knee and had to wear a brace on my leg and use crutches. Needless to say my knee is feeling a lot better. But it still doesn't feel fully healed. Soo...I am going to try and see if my Doctor can see me this week, just because I don't want this to become something worse that it really is. Wish me luck.

So one of my favorite 90s relics has finally emerged via a new group! Betty Boo was a UK rapper that had some fabu music in the early 90s that combined dance, hip hop and all that is cheese! I was a big dork and I think I was one of 4 people in the US who actually bought her albums at regular price upon their release (because they were always in the cut-out bin). She took some time off to take care of her sick mother, but now she is back after writing some hits for some UK teen acts. She's hooked up w/ Alex James of Blur and formed a new band called Wigwam! They have a hot new video and Ms. Boo looks f-ing fierce!

I've been singing this song for days! Before I forget I wanted to wish my favorite MI broad, Tracy a happy belated birthday!

I'd write more but I've been out the last 2 days and have way too much to catch up on! Take care everyone!

DEJAME ENTRAR

Last night we went to see Moenia @ the Metro. I enoyed the show, though it was rather short. But I have to admit (and don't hate me Sista M), after awhile alot of their songs sound a like. A song would start and I'd be like didn't they just sing that one?! LOL. That tends to happen w/ electronic music sometimes. Overall I enjoyed it other than this guy that pissed me off (he wouldn't let me go through and I didn't feel like dealing with it; so I went off to side and joined everyone after being coaxed by Rob and Jorge), sorry for my drama queen time out. Sorry guys. But the most annoying thing was this NASTY straight couple next to me that were practically fucking. He was the size of Big Pun and she the size of his leg! I kidd you not. Towards they end they were pushing one another and I felt like I was smack dab in the middle of an episode of Laura en América.

Speaking of concerts I just found out that my all-time favorite rock en español band is coming to Chicago....

FOBIA!!!!! OMG!!!!! I adore them!!! They reunited a year or two ago for a greatest hits album/tour in Mexico and last year released a new album entitled Rosa Venus. The last time I saw them was probably 1996. I was like 19 and it was at the House of Blues. I remember we went for Alethya's birthday. They actually did a show here like 2 years ago but hardly anyone knew about it. I was soooooo pissed that I didn't know about it. Anyhoo I am so geeked that they are coming. OMG! Only bad thing is it's my boo boo bday weekend! Though we are going to see Ladytron for is bday. BTW...the show is Saturday, April 22 @ the Aragon.

So guess who just got tickets for RBD at the AllState Arena? I got great tickets! 19th row Section 3! Woo hoo! I know I'm such a homo. LOL. It's May 20 and I am sure it's gonna be full of fags and 14 year old girls.

So this weekend I did something that I hadn't done for 1.5 years. I listened to Martika. It's been awhile since the whole incident occurred. I've been having withdrawls lately if you will. Plus I kept seeing all these signs everywhere. Enough with that. I must say I missed hearing a lot of those songs. I'm not saying I'm gonna become a geeky fan again, I'm just saying at least I can go back and enjoy the music of my childhood again. Besides that first album is über trashy dance pop fun!

Speaking of pop music I purchased 2 cd's recently on amazon.com used. One is from ex-Miss Universe (and ex-Mrs. Marc Anthoy) Dayanara Torres and the other by Cita y sus muñecas rotas. First off let's start w/ Ms. Torres. Holy shit! This album is F I E R C E! It's über gay dance. Think late 90s dance (Minerva, Sentidos Opuestos, Meyra Cordova). The other is from a goth pop/rock group Cita y sus muñecas rotas. Some of you may remember Cita from the Mexican soap Alcanzar una estrella. She played Cecilia and her hair was really short and bleach blond, kinda like that psycho workout lady from the 90s, Susan Powter or whatever the hell her name was. Anyhoo I've been looking for their one and only album and I finally found it for decent price used. Loving it! In facct here's a song for you all....

Cita y sus muñecas rotas En las calles obscuras

I feel like I've blogged enough for today. Must get back to work. Ciao bellos...

Me parece perfecto

I have been so friggin' busy at work all week that I've had hardly anytime to post here on my blog. Sorry. I know my posts are becoming less frequent. I guess I have to face reality and get used to the fact that I am going to have to start blogging from home. It's just I like to do it at work, because it's a nice distraction from the day. Anyhoo...

Last Saturday we went to see Francis (or as my Milwaukee Sister would say that tranny) @ the Congress.

Image hosting by Photobucket

Let me just be blunt and say I was expecting a whole lot more. Whenver I hear about his (or is it her?) shows they always go on and about how extravegant they are. Well there were no dancers, no lavish costumes, just one drag queen, a Juan Gabriel impersonator (who did not need to perform 3 times) and Francis inbetween telling dirty jokes and swearing a lot. How much should I really complain? It was free!

The best part though was some friends from mootown came to visit and hang out. We had a nice dinner at Dunley's in Logan Square and after the show we ended up @ Side Track where we met up w/ Sista M, Jorgillo, etc. It was fun but that entire weekend it was colder than a witche's tit! WTF!?!?!

So I have to tell you all that someone has finally come out of hiding...yes peeps...Astrompeta has finally updated his blog! Jesus Christ! It's about time. I've missed his poking fun @ celebrities en español.

I haven't shared a video w/ you in a while, so I found a good one today! In the early 90s I was so in awe of this group that my Grandfather would ask me ¿Por qué te gustan ésos jotos?

Oh Grandpa, if you only knew. How I miss Locomía :( Especially Francesc Picacs. Francesc. Sigh.

BTW we didn't end up seeing Gloria Trevi. Oh well. Maybe next time.

me.

Chicago radio

Sucks ass. Just stating the obvious really. All the good stations are gone. Energy, Super Estrella, VIVA. VIVA is the most recent victim. It was the last of 3 Spanish language pop stations, when its format switched to reggaetón...insert barf sound here. Who the hell wants to listen to a reggaetón station? Every song sounds exactly alike. I think what prompted this post was we were switching stations and Nuestro amor by RBD came on. When we looked at the dial it said 103.1! La Kalle (ghetto, I know to spell calle with a k), which was formally VIVA, was playing it. I figured it must have been their obligatory y más for the year, being that their tagline is Reggaetón y más. After that the annoying pocha DJ (I say annoying because she can never speak one language, be it English or Spanish, for more than a sentence) played George Lamond's Bad Of The Heart! WTF! Anyhoo...that is my rant for the day. I will post about my weekend tomorrow. Ciao bellos.

Freaky Friday

It's not really Freaky Friday, I just couldn't think of what else to title my post. Haven't posted in a few days as I'm super swamped this week and next! Ahhh!!! Hope everyone had a nice Vday. Wed. was our 2.5 year anniversary. Wow! 2.5 years! That's forever in gay years! It seems like just yesterday I was chatting w/ Rob at the Tiffany concert. It's been very interesting, and I could not thank God for him enough. Words can not express my sentiments. Love ya!

So what better than to share a video with you all of my baby's diva, Daniela Romo:

I just posted this on youtube.com and wanted to share it with all of you :) I honestly can't get enough of this site!!! I've already uploaded a crapload of videos!

Sorry this is such a short post, but like I said I'm going to be slammed here at work. I have some friends coming in from Milwaukee this weekend for Francis so that should be fun. Thank god the house is clean! Hope everyone is well...

war ladies

First of all HAPPY V-DAY to you all.

Image hosting by Photobucket

Hope everyone had a great weekend. We took a little trip to Milwaukee and visited my Mom as well as made the obligatory trip to Bryant's the best bar in the world! We got in super late, around 5am after hanging out w/ my cousins! I was hurting all day yesterday. I think I even went to bed @ 9:30pm last night as a result. Felt great!

So this morning as I was getting off the train and walked up to the street level at Jackson and Dearborn, I noticed yet again that the war ladies were standing there w/ their homemade signs protesting the war. I can't help but not feel sorry for them. Nobody even pays any attention to them, maybe it's their crayola marker signs. They look something like this.

Oh well. In other news don't forget that Francis is playing 2 free shows this weekend @ the Congress Theater. We'll be attending the Sat. show. Should be fun. I am sure it will be filled to the brim w/ locas and vestidas. Some friends from moo-town are even coming up for it. Fun.

That's all I got for ya. Ciao ciao.

Kiss Of Life

Guess who's coming to Chicago? Ok don't guess just look...

I am so going. Every time they've played here since I moved to Chicago I've been out of the country! What gives? So to celebrate Anything Box's upcoming Chicago show, let us revist their sole hit via youtube...

While not my favorite AB song, it's still great nonetheless. Besides it's from what I think is the best synth album of all time (Sista M you need to get this already) Peace

Also check out the latest from Tiga entitled Sexor. I can't get enough of it!

I should get going, we're going to have a busy day today.

Ave María

It's Sunday and I rarely post! But I figure...why the hell not? Today is one of my favorite singers birthdays. Stephanie Salas, so everyone celebrate by listening to Ave María in high rotation...

Image hosting by Photobucket

I'm a big dork and run a yahoo group for her. Loser I know.

So I was going through some old boxes not to long ago and look what I found.

Image hosting by Photobucket

This is my Milwaukee County ID from when I was 16! LOL! Look at my hair! I had hair! LOL! I totally lied about my weight back then as well. I thought it was amusing and decided to share it with you.

I'm skipping my video for today as I have to get ready. We're going to my suegra's today as she invited us over for dinner! Yummy...pozole :) Tootles!

Turkish Delight

I am trying to get rid of a cold right now. Ick. The other day I woke up w/ a sore throat and it's since gone away but all that's left is a stuffy nose. Double ick. I think it was walking home in the rain from the Ely Guerra concert the other night.

So I forgot to mention that last week I finished watching the Clase 406 DVD my Mom got for me in Mexico. I really enjoyed this soap. It was equal parts trashy and fun. But what I didn't like is that when the DVD ended it did so very abruptly in fact it left me hanging for more. Literally. As the scene ended it said No te pierdas la 2ª temporada de CLASE 406. Hello! Part 2 isn't even out on DVD yet!? Hong long am I going to have to wait?? Apparently there were 4 temporadas, or seasons or series depending on where you live in the English speaking world. I guess I'll just have to wait. The funny thing about this was that practically the entire cast (w/ a few exceptions) were recycled for Rebelde. Who does Pedro Damian think he is? Pedro Almodóvar? The principal from Rebelde was the wife beater in Clase 406, the secretary was Magdalena's mom, the math teacher was the slutty cheerleader Daniela, etc. I must say though that Dulce María was totally not annoying in this one though. She irks me on Rebelde, her voice is so grating. So hurry up Televisa and release the remaining seasons on DVD already!!!

Enough ranting...a couple years back my boo boo pointed out this cd to me:

Wow! It's über trashy turkish dance music! She can't sing for shit but she's totally trampy and the beats are killing!!! This came out in 2000 so God only knows if she's released a follow up since then, or if she ever will. I'm praying for the latter. Anyhoo as my obsession w/ youtube.com continues I naturally did a serach on Nez, the skanky Turkish singer I've been ranting about for the past paragraph or so. Lo and behold, look what I found!

Enjoy! I must go as my nose is dripping and it's time for me to take my Nyquil and knock out. Til next time...

All Night Long

Greetings all. Another site I found to check out is pandora.com (not to be confused w/ Mexican AC pop group Pandora). Basically you type in an artist or song you like and it will generate a playlist of that artist and similar artists. It's pretty much dead on. Plus I'm discovering some new (or new old acts) in some cases. Check it out!

This is totally not related but am I the only person that thinks urinals are disgusting? I refuse to pee in a urinal unless I absolutely have no other choice. I just find them dirty and smelly, and just plain gross! It doesn't help that I'm pee shy, but I can't bring myself to whip it out in front of a complete stranger. Enough ranting...

Can we talk about how sad I am that Valentino Lanus was killed off Alborada? I know Patty already ruined it for me, but I wasn't expecting it so soon! Isn't he one of the main stars? Now why continue watching? I mean Fernando Colunga is hot and all, but he's no Valentino. Plus is it me or does he look too chiseled now? None the less I'd still do him. In fact he has me! Not in real life, my first celebrity sex dream was w/ him when I was like 16! How slutty!

Before I forget happy belated birthday to both Meiver & Matt!

Don't forget that Francis is coming for free to the Congress Theater. They've added a second show so sign up fast! You can do so by clicking here and then filling out the email form. Again it's February 17 & 18! See all you locas there!

So I know I used to post songs here on a regular basis, but since I've discovered youtube.com, I figure it's oh so much more fun to post videos! Since my twin blogger is obsessed w/ it as well, I'd like to dedicate today's video to her since I know she loves this song so much! So w/ out further ado...THE LOVER WHO ROCKS YOU ALL NIGHT

Yes that's India (about half of her anyway) back when she was a freestyle singer. How I miss those days. I find salsa music to be utterly boring and monotonous. I know her voice was too big/good for the freestyle genre (let's be serious folks, they had some of the worst singers EVER! Lil' Suzy anyone? Johnny O? I can go on for hours here...) but her loud ass was perfect for dance music. Until she stops releasing crappy salsa albums (save her salsa debut which was really good) all we can do is reminisce. Tootles.

Sayin' Sorry

This past Saturday I saw Ely Guerra live for the umpteenth time. It was a free show @ the Congress Theatre and what a show. She did an acoustic show and was amazing as always. The opening acts were ok, but I guess I can't complain as the show was free. The first was pseudo goth rock en español band from Joliet (or as Tyra Banks says Juliet) named Crather (prounced like father). The second was Miguel Inzunza whom I understand was spawned from Mexico's version of Operación Triunfo. He was at least entertaining, unlike the first act whose lead singer didn't even open his eyes when he sang. While I enjoyed the show immensely (especially the drunk lesbian next to us), there was this annoying broad who kept screaming Eres mi venus. The couple next to me was equally annoyed and finally I was like No mames ya callate and she called me a fresa. ¡Uff! O sea...

Anyhoo...I took a bunch of pics at the show and this is my favorite.

So I discovered this website called youtube.com via Steven's blog. It's like my new favorite toy! I even uploaded some vids to share. To my delight someone posted a bunch a freestyle videos. Gurrrrlll...you know I love me some freestyle. So over the last year since I discovered Denise Lopez thanks to my Sista M's bootleg DVD compilation he won on ebay, I have listened to her Top 40 smash Sayin' Sorry (Don't Make It Right) over 65 times on my ipod! In less than a year! Why didn't I discover this bitch early? Holy shit, she is so loud and nasaly I love it! I just wanted to share her video w/ you all and you can also drool over a young Carlos Gómez whom I drooled over in a post last year. Enjoy!

Hope everyone is doing well. I had my review today and it went sooooooooo well! I'm elated! Tootles!

Tammy Faye

I will do a proper post later but for the meantime enjoy this trash we found yesterday on our used cd hunt. My boo boo found this and immediately knew I would want it. I live for crap like this! He ripped it and transferred it to mp3 for me. So I give you all...

Big Boobs

This past Sunday I celebrated my belated bday outing w/ some friends that couldn't make the first outing. As my boo boo already pointed out, they were so relevant that they had to have an outing where they could attend. Of course that include my Milwaukee Sister, Alethya, Jorge and Emily. What a blast we had. We started the night off w/ a sangría buzz from our dinner @ Café Ibérico where a few coworkers had joined us. From there it was on to Roscoe's. See Sunday is my favorite night to go to Roscoe's. Sunday they have the fierce DJ Bobby who plays tons of late 80s/early 90s trashy dance/pop/r&b (and you know that means tons of freestyle!!). We screamed and sang along to the likes of Vanessa Williams, Exposé, Pebbles, Tiffany, Cyndi Lauper, Corina, Michel'le and so much more! It was so fun. Not to mention that we got wasted on 4-5 pitchers of long island ice tea!!! Oh no!!! It was just too much fun. After @ the Pie Hole I drunk dialed I don't know how many people. I did get verification from the following: Tracy, William, Mari, Meiver, Carrie & Glennys! Someone get the phone away from me! One of my drunken calls even was the topic of a blog entry :) I feel honored.

I took Monday off but believe it or not I was not hungover! We started drinking Sunday around 4pm that by the time I was too wasted to stand anymore it was almost 11pm. So I went home, we knocked out and actually woke up early and ran a bunch of errands. It was so nice to actually spend a whole day w/ my boo boo. We even took Chus to the dog park but he really doesn't like it. He gets too intimidated by the bigger dogs. I had to rescue him yesterday from a doggie bombard!

For some odd reason this past week I have gotten so into watching series on DVD. I've been catching some Degrassi Junior High here and there. But there were two shows I could not stop watching!

Image hosting by Photobucket

First being the now defunct Life As We Know It. It was from the producers of Freaks & Geeks and was really good. Plus I think I now have a crush on the main hearthrob, Sean Farris.

The other show I am hooked on is the telenovela CLASE 406 which was done by the same producer as Rebelde. It was pretty obvious as half the cast of 406 ended up on Rebelde.

Plus Jorge Poza is in it and I've had a crush on him since I saw Segundo Aire. It's one of those shortened DVDs that Televisa does, but I adore because they cut out all the non important scenes. It's so good (a million times better than Rebelde might I add)! I have a disc and a half to get through still. Don't anyone ruin it for me either.

Speaking of ruining, Patty, no more talking about Alborada! You're ahead of us so don't tell me anything! GOL!

I must get going as I have lots to do here at work since I was out yesterday. Hope everyone has a lovely week!

Boners & Crotchas

Remember I kept telling you all about Four Four? Well now I love this guy even more as he's posted a Freestyle Mix for us all to download! He also rounded it out w/ some booty music! Hot! This puts me in a perfect mood for my Sista M Belated Bday throwdown!!

So I remember as a child one of my friends who was a few years older than us told us something rather amusing. This was around the time we were just discovering what boners (erections for all you scholars) were. So she told us that girls get something too. She said that girls get (I am not making this up) CROTCHAS! So tell us gals, do you get crotchas? LOL!

What perverted children we were. In fact we even wrote a song at age 8 (me and my friend Jessica). We were so dirty for such a young age! Check out the lyrics for yourself:

F*ck your momma
F*ck your daddy
F*ck your bald headed granny
If you wanna f*ck you f*ck like this
You grab his balls
He grabs your ass

Unfortunately that's all I can remember. BTW after momma, daddy and bald headed granny stuff you were supposed to insert a guitar riff. LOL!

I just thought I'd share this lovely ditty w/ you all. I must get back to writing my self-review.

Greetings & Salutations

Thanks to everyone for all the birthday wishes :) Had a lovely bday dinner w/ my boo boo. Indian food. Yummy. I could eat it everyday!

Thanks for the gifts too! Rob got me America's Next Top Model - Cycle 1 on DVD! I started watching w/ Cycle 2 so I never saw the original series. How did I watch the whole thing in 1 day? It was great!

So glad Adrianne won. She was by far the best! Plus those HOLY ROLLER broads got on my nerves.

Saturday morning I got a surprise in the mail. Salvador sent me all the way from CA the following...

I was so floored! I've already thanked him a million times over the phone, but now I am doing so publicly! Thanks sweetie! It meant the world to me. Come to Chicago soon!

So Sat. night a group of 10 of us went to eat @ Buca di Beppo. We had fun. The waitress was über bitchy, but nonetheless it was a good time. Thanks to those who made it! I love my gifts btw! After that we headed over to Cocktail for a drink and then to Roscoe's to drink the night away. Freddy made them play Holly Valance for me and I even drunk dialed Salvador & Sista M! It was a nice night out, didn't get too drunk.

I've gotten so behind on Alborada! I have 2 more days to catch up on. While I enjoying watching my man's diva (Daniela Romo--she is fabulous as the evil Doña Juana), my main reason is this:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Grr! Grr! Grr! Valentino de mi vida....

The more I watch I am starting to find Luis's henchman hot as well. I can't remember his name but that's him shirtless next to Lucero. BTW are her boobs not huge in this novela? Motherhood was good to her!

This Sunday is my belated birthday get together for those who didn't make it on Saturday. We are heading over to Café Ibérico and then back to Roscoe's for their 80's night! It's gonna be a Freestyle throwdown! I can't wait!

Before I forget Gloria Trevi is going to be performing @ Circuit Thursday, Feb 23!!!! See ya there. Thanks Emilio for the heads up!

Sorry for the lack of udpates. Will work on posting more often! In the words of Choice, PEACE IN YO' MIDDLE CREASE

Again thanks for all the wishes. Thanks to Salvador for my birthday post at SayHey!

Tonight my boo boo is taking me out for my favorite, Indian food! I think we had that last year as well but it's just oooooh soooooo goooood!

Happy me day!

MARIA SANGRIENTA

I remember back in college hanging out w/ my friend Alethya. We were drinking and began pondering one of life's big questions. How the hell do you say Bloody Mary in Spanish? Somehow in our drunken stupor we decided that it must be called María sangrienta. Sounds appetizing huh? To our dismay one day we were watching a film from Spain and one of the characters said the following to the bartender: Quiero una bloody mary. Of course it was said w/ a huge accent but we were so dissappointed that our translation of María sangrienta was not correct!

I had a lovely weekend in Milwaukee. Saw my Mom, got some goodies she brought us back from Mexico and attended my first ever White Elephant Party. I must say it was a blast, and was rather pleased that a certain friend got the gift I brought. I unfortunately got a huge box full of used light bulbs. Yeah. Exciting I know.

They are now sitting in a garbage can in Milwaukee. Could have been worse. Someone got used dental floss.

So tomorrow is my bday. I'll be expecting comments galore! Lol!

My coworker just informed me that Ely Guerra is coming to the Congress Theatre as their continuing series of free concerts! So get your ass to their website and sign up for free tickets! That's Sat. Jan. 28. Doors open at 7.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

But it gets better. Not only is Ely coming but so is Francis. Yes that Francis.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Probably Mexico's most famous travesti. She was one of the host of the über naco Hasta en los mejores familias. So you know I can't miss it! It's Saturday Feb. 11 @ the Congress Theatre and is free as well. I'm so digging all these free shows.

Laters.

Edit
Someone must really want to wish me an early birthday! The Colin Farrell sex tape has linked! If you love me people you will send this to me! OMG! Pass me a tissue!

All is quiet

...on New Years Day. New Years was mellow this year, as we stayed in and watched movies, drank, and ate. Unfortunately I have had a cold that I just can't kick. I finally got around to renting Degrassi Junior High on DVD and stayed up til almost 1am last night watching! OMG I love this show! It was so corny yet it had a heart. Is that even cornier?

So I usually don't make new years resolutions, but this year I am going to buck that tradition and start some. Here goes:

• Get my finances in order!
• Lose weight/exercise.
• Use my flickr account more.
• Spend more time w/ friends/family

I think that's it. If I think of anything else I am sure I'll post it. Next week is my bday. 29. I'm not sweating it. I know some people freak out about their twenties ending, but I think I've done a lot during my twenties. I partied (a lot), traveled, met some amazing people, met the love of my life, moved to a big city, etc.

Enough about that. Have to get back to work.
