Godmother

Greetings earthlings. I know it's been eons since I've written (ok a week...but who's couting). I've just been über busy here at work. I've been meaning to write but just haven't found the time. So as Kylie says : Let's get to it!

First things first...last Thursday we made the trek out to Beverly, IL to see the one and only and very talented Tiffany. First of all I have to say I was really dissapointed in the turn out. I think there may have been 50 people there. Who cares though. I got to sit in the front row and jam out to Tiff! She did a rather short set but she sang a song off her 1993 Japanese only album Dreams Never Die called If Love Is Blind which caused me and Rob to queen out! It was f*ckin' awesome! Here are some pics from her performance:

It was a rather short show, only about 8 songs, but she did give it her all and some local girls came and sang Could've Been on stage with her. It was adorable.

After the show they had us line up for a meet and greet. Of course we were the first ones in line. As we approached Tiffany we both told her how happy we were for her coming again. We both had some items autographed. I proceeded to tell her the story of how we met at her show 3 years ago, showed her pics of us w/ her from the last show, etc. She was super sweet and congratulated us on our upcoming 3 year anniversary. We also dubbed her our Godmother which she happily pointed out to us:

She also told us that next time she's in town she better see us there and most importantly together :) We also blabbed about certain songs we love, which are often ignored (like Tenderly from her floptastic 1990 album New Inside). Before we left we got a picture taken w/ our Godmother. Enjoy!

So last Friday I went out w/ my friend Emily from work for her bday. We went to Ceaser's on Broadway. Awful food but killer margaritas. After 2.5 jumbo mango margaritas and 3.5 shots of tequila, let's just say I was happy. Her and I ended up going to the movies drunk. Something I've never done before. It was quite the experience. We went to see The Devil Wears Prada. I did enjoy it, but as we both read the book, we both felt that towards the end how it veered so much away from it, was rather annoying. But I adored the clothes and all that faggy stuff. Plus Anne Hathaway is really cute. I don't think I'll go to the movies drunk again as I kept nodding off towards the end!

So I think someone has to start watching Big Brother All-Stars. Want to know why?

Kaysar that's why! I swear he has to be the HOTTEST MAN ALIVE. My mangina is dripping wet just thinking about him!

Wow...I just realized this post is REALLY LONG. Guess that's what happens when you don't post in a week. I have to give a shoutout to my twin blogger. She came over last Sat. and we had a mini Degrassi High marathon. It was a blast. I think she knows more about this show than I do. School's Out viewing perhaps? Just need to order it.

I'd love to go on and on but I have some work to do as I'm off Monday and I need to get everything done by tomorrow evening. Still have to pick up around the house for Sal's visit. Ciao ciao!

Paleta

A post 2 days in a row! I can't believe it. LOL. I forgot to mention that we finally got an AC. Thanks to RDDP of course. Chus LOVES it. It's so funny how much our dog is like us. He hates summer as well! Well there is one thing he likes about summer.

He loves to eat paletas! Further evidence...

But alas, all good things must come to an end.

The other day my good friend and hermana Robert stopped by (hadn't seen him in eons) and brought over his baby. They had so much fun together, Tattoo didn't want to leave :P

So tonight we are going to see Tiffany if it kills us! I already purchased the tickets for tonight's show. I'm super geeked! This will be my 2nd time seeing her, and technically my 2nd time seeing her w/ Rob. I just found out there will be a meet and greet as well afterwards. Now we can thank her in person for bringing us together. So I leave you all w/ another Tiffany clip...

This is the title track to her second album Hold An Old Friends Hand:

I have loads to do. Take care everyone!

Witness

Fourth of July has come and gone. Thank god. The ghetto children of my neighborhood lit fireworks for a week straight it seems. I just don't get it. Fireworks, they do nothing for me, other than annoy me. The funniest part of the 4th of July (and no not the fact that I had to stay at work until 9pm on Monday....or the fact that I had to work Monday) was the infestation of Jehovah's Witnesses in our neighborhood. Flyers for some conference were shoved into my face repeatedly as I was walking Chus. I wanted to say Look lady I'm gay, when through a shitload of Catholic School and I practice Sodomy just to see the look on her face. But alas I didn't.

I couldn't be bothered.

But something I did see on the 4th that disturbed me was a dog got loose and ran out onto the boulevard and got hit by a car :( Luckily it slowed down and the dog was able to get up, but I felt my heart drop as I saw it happen. I don't know if it got loose or someone was just walking him/her w/out a leash, but I'm just glad the dog was ok.

We didn't do much this weekend, as funds were tight. We did however receieve direct from Australia both Season 1 and Season 2 of Degrassi High!!! Lord knows when these are going to get a North American release, so we could not pass these up. Shipping from Australia was über cheap. Twin Blogger are you ready for our marathon??

So the other day I was thinking about a movie that I used to love back in the day. Ever see it?

Book Of Love was a fun teen comedy from 1990 starring Chris Young and Tricia Leigh Fisher (who I know Rob is a fan of). It also features one of my favorite crushes of all-time.

Danny Nucci is such a hottie! Does anyone remember the TV show he was on w/ Jason Bateman, it was based on the movie My Life With Guido. He's so hot! Now I must get myself a DVD copy of Book Of Love and fast!

I just found out that my life partner Weenie, aka Marlene just gave birth to her twins! Oh no! Dookie we're aunties and uncles! Oooooooh! Congrats sweetie!

Tomorrow we are going to attempt to see Tiffany again. She's playing in Beverly, IL at the Beverly Arts Center of Chicago. Hopefully we'll make it as Rob is still getting over a cold.

I should get going. I have lots to do (both work and home). Salvador is coming to visit us a week from Saturday!!! Can't wait to meet him in person :) I am sure I'll have many drunken stories to tell from his visit.

Peace out y'all!

Could've Been

Well we didn't end up going to see Tiffany after all. My boo boo got real sick so we skipped the show. But, she's doing another one next week in Beverly, IL on July 6. Has she never heard of Chicago? I hate going to the burbs to see shows...

Anyhoo, I'm taking a break from cleaning/unpacking (yes I'm still unpacking). I was on youtube when I found this...

Holy shit! Dino! I had such a crush on hiim back in the day. I even saw him open for NKOTB for my 13th bday (January 11, 1990) and I remember I even bought a Dino tshirt and poster! Ha! He was actually kinda greasy looking, but whatver, to a budding homosexual of 13 he was hot hot hot! Have a great Saturday everyone!

Ride It

Haven't posted in awhile. Gay pride was a blast. We had lots of fun w/ Gina, my Milwaukee Sister, etc. Not standing outside watching the parade was the best thing we ever did! We did not have to wait in line to get in anywhere, nor was there a line because all the commoners were outside. Ha! Quite honestly I don't give a rat's ass about the actual parade. You've seen one parade, you've seen 'em all. A sample...

Float 1: Drag queens
Float 2: Something Political (ie I HATE BUSH)
Float 3: Half naked men dancing to faggy dance song
Float 4: Dykes on Bikes

Now multiply that by 10 and there's the parade. We totally got smashed. I think we drank at least 5 pitchers of Long Island Ice Tea. I lost count. It was so much fun, it was good seeing people and getting drunk :) We tried to go to Circuit after Roscoe's but I was so wasted we ended up hopping in a cab and going home.

Needless to say we never made it to Pat Benatar that night. Sorry boo boo. Once we got home I somehow managed to order Thai food, eat two bites and pass out. Another succesful pride.

So do any of you actually have Monday (July 3rd) off? We have to work and then we're off for the 4th on Tuesday. WTF. I am so annoyed. I am treating Monday as a slacker day. I'll sell stuff on ebay or something.

Tonight we are going to Palatine, IL to see Tiffany!

For anyone interested she's playing at Durty Nellie's at 9pm tonight w/ Jeff Timmons of 98º. You all know I love me some Tiffany, so I will be squealing in the front! In case you didn't already know Rob and I actually met at a Tiffany concert the last time she was in Chicago three years ago! How gay I know, but were it not for that show I wouldn't be in the loving relationship that I am in now :)

So let's watch a clip of Tiffany performing RIDE IT, my favorite song off her latest album DUST OFF AND DANCE:

Have a happy Thursday everyone...

It's Raining On Prom Night

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting ALIGN=leftNo it's not Prom Night, but it might as well be, it's Gay Pride today here in Chicago and it's raining out! WTF!?! Oh well. I will not let it damper our festivities today. I guess we'll just see a bunch of rainbow umbrellas on display. The poor trannies, what will they do?? For those of you who I happen to run into it, let us get trashed in unison. If I drunk dial you (Glennys, Meiver, Sal, etc.) be thrilled! My drunk dials are C-L-A-S-S-I-C!!! I should probably start to get ready, as there are SEVERAL pitchers of Long Island Ice Tea awaiting me! As my friend Ryan in Milwaukee dubbed today, let's get going to the Running Of The Fags! That photo is a random drunk photo of me, so you'll know what I'll look like today (one of many drunk faces) in case you see me.

Stanky

Why oh why do cab drivers reak? Monday I stayed late to help out on my coworker's project, so I decided I would expense a cab. After getting cash I hailed a cab and I kidd you not, it smelt like he hadn't bathed in a week! WTF!?! He had the air blasting and that didn't help matters, as the smell was seeping into every crack and crevice of that yellow limousine. I wish there was some warning sign or something. Usually I am drunk in a cab so I don't notice, but during those after work excursions home, I always get the ass funk cab. I can't even describe the stench. He smelled like he put on too much oil or something. Eeeew eeew eeeew!

To top that off today I went to use the restroomm at work and I swear someone gave birth to a brown baby when I walked in. There should be a warning light lit when the men's room smell's like ass. Don't know why I am talking about stanky smells, I guess I am just procrastinating about finishing my project. Better haul ass. Peace out.

Freaks

It was hotter than ass this weekend. I HATE SUMMER!!! I just can't stand the heat, it feels so suffocating. To make matters even worse we have NO AIR CONDITIONER!!! Hoping to buy one this week. Needless to say I didn't paint as it was too hot to do anything.

Can't really post much as I have a big project I'm trying to finish. But I decided to take a quick mental break. My bf rented Freaks & Geeks this weekend and we had a mini marathon.

I hadn't seen these in awhile. What a fucking awesome shoe. Too bad it was so short lived.

I'd like to join my Milwaukee Sister in helping promote the latest Dannii Minogue release The Hits & Beyond as well...

Buy it bitches! She rocks!

Must get back to work. A pitcher of Long Island sounds so good right now. Is it Sunday???

If you feel the funk

I'm happy to say that the copies I ordered of the re-release of La Toya Jackson's debut album arrived today! Great job. And just so everyone knows, my Milwaukee Sister got a shout out in the thank you's!

So I am still unpacking. Almost done. This Saturday I'm hoping to paint the living room. I am going to do a light cyan, and I FINALLY found some stretch slipcovers for our sofa and loveseat that I like. I swear as soon as it looks decent I'll post some pics :P

Have you ever gone to retrojunk.com?? Basically they have clips on old cartoons, kids shows, etc from the 70s, 80s and 90s. So we started typing in names of shows and I came across this one...

Anyone remember this one??? I used to love it!!! I also found this one...

I could post them all, but I don't want to bore you all. Work is unfortunately going to keep me busy the new week or so. I'm so looking forward to the Pride Parade on June 25. Glennys, Meiver, etc. expect drunk dialing!!!

You may now resume...

to your nomally scheduled blogging...

I'm back! Our move was a success, we got the old place clean, etc. Now it's just a matter of finishing unpacking. Aghh! So I'll attempt tackling that this weekend. I'm also helping out my coworker on her rummage sale. I'm hoping to sell some stuff of my own.

I'm über excited because I just found out that Racine will be opening for Peaches and they will be playing the Vic on July 17!!!!!!! How friggin' cool!!!!! Peaches is kick ass live and I can't wait to hear her new album, but I am so excited to be able to see Wendy James live!

My twin blog has moved her blog again! You can now access it @ www.radarlove.org.

So Rob and I are obsessed w/ Degrassi The Next Generation.

Even though it's a total rip off of the original and far more superior 80s series, it's still addictive. We've decided we need to create a drinking game for this new series. Everytime they rip off Degrassi Junior High or Degrassi High we take a drink! We'll have no liver left! LOL! I'd like to thank the lovely souls over at youtube for uploading all of these!

Okies, I should get going as I have a meeting to run to. Just wanted to drop in and say heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey!

I'm alive

Yes peeps I'm alive. We are 99% moved in. Still have a few odds and ends to bring from our old place, but after we pick that up today we will be all moved in!!

It's great. I love our new place, the new block (even though it's only about 4 blocks away), the new neighbors thus far, the location, etc.

Overall I have to say this was an extremely easy move. Hiring movers was the BEST THING WE EVER DID. It made our move so much easier. If anyone in the Chicago area is moving anytime soon, might I suggest using these guys. They were super fast (they were done in 2.5 hours) and super friendly and courteous. I don't know why I never hired movers before in the past. So worth it. Maybe I was too cheap before, but I am glad I wised up.

I must get going. Like a dumb ass I packed away my cell phone charger and I don't remember which box it's in! Ahhh!!! It's been dead for about 24 hours now. After we're all settled in and stuff I'll post some pics of our new place :)

Peace in yo' middle crease!

Heat is evil

I loathe summer. I like the social aspect of it, but that's about it. I can't believe how hot it was this weekend. The fact that our central air died last summer (and never got fixed) did not help matters. Fortunately for me my mom came up and helped us pack all weekend. Not much left, just little odds and ends, but the heat! I can't stand it! I was sweating like crazy walking to the train this morning and of course the train was SUPER PACKED. Ugh! I hate it!!! It's supposed to cool down, good because I can't deal with another 8,000º weather day!

Enough bitching. Just wanted to check in and tell everyone that I am alive! I'll leave you with a video to tide you all over until I resume blogging...

Aside from Bibi Gaytán, my other favorite Timbiriche, Sasha Sökol! Enjoy!

GLOW

Let's reminisce shall we? How many of you remember G.L.O.W.? Aka the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling? I fucking adored this show as a kid. It has to be the campiest thing ever! My 2 cousins and I growing up would play that we were them and even recorded ourselves singing the theme song back in the mid 80s when this was on! Now if that doesn't go on my top 10 list of the gayest things I ever did as a child...

Thanks to the gods at youtube I bring you the following:

I found write up about it and almost shit my pants when I found out that they released 3 best of DVDS!!!! And they came out in 2003!!???!!! How the fuck did I not know about this???

I remember always staying up late every Saturday night to watch this on Channel 58 in Milwaukee! Hot! Hot! I am so ordering these for myself so I can relive these magical moments of my youth right along w/ the likes of Spanish Fly, the Farmer's Daughters, Big Bad Voodoo Momma, etc..

I am so happy!

Anniversary

2 years ago this past May 20 I started this blog! Wow! For shits and giggles, here's my very first post!

In honor of my blog's 2nd anniversary, let us watch a videoclip by Alaska y Dinarama performing the song that gave this blog it's name, Quiero ser santa:

Thanks for reading! I still find it hard to believe that some of you actually find what I have to say interesting. Love + Kisses!

Y soy rebelde

So sat. my friend Frank came down from Milwaukee to go w/ me to see RBD. It was a hoot! There were so many little kids dressed up in their uniforms, and some grown gay men (including my friend). He took pics, I'll share later. But in the meantime I found this clip on youtube that someone uploaded from Sat.'s show.

We had a blast, even if the reviewer from the Suntimes didn't feel the same way. Oh well.

We have 9 days left to pack! Ahhh! 9 days! Yesterday we took Frank to Maxwell Street to have an infamous huarache. Yummy. I totally lucked out and found season one of Charmed on DVD for only $20 brand new! It retails for like 40-50! I love Maxwell Street. After Frank left we ran some errands and then ended up going for Thai food (Thai Bowl in Little Italy). I don't know what happened, but I got really sick. I ate half my meal and then all I really wanted to do was go home. I went to bed, shivering like crazy and finally at some point my boo boo came to the rescue and gave me some OJ and some aspirin. I knocked out and this morning I felt a heck of a lot better!

No Thai (at least not Thai Bowl) for awhile!

EDIT

:

Here is a picture that my comadre took at the show!

BTW I think I know what made me sick. I realized the only thing I had that Rob didn't was a Thai Iced Tea. Never again...

YES!!!

Yes! Danielle's won America's Next Top Model!!!!!!! She so deserved it! I think I have restored faith in this show. This is the first time someone's won that I like since cycle 2's winner Yoanna. This season was great to watch and it totally makes up for the last 2 winners, Naima and Nicole. Sorry but Naima has the personality of a bucket of water and Nicole is so friggin' dull it hurts! I don't know who's My Life as a Cover Girl commercials are more boring? Yay for Danielle! BTW, wasn't it the best when Jade got voted off?

We actually watched the finale at my friend's house so her cat and Chus could have a play date :) Awwww...

2 more weeks to move! Ahhhh! My mom is coming up to help us pack next weekend. I packed 5 boxes Tuesday, so I need to haul ass tonight and tomorrow. Saturday I will have company because we're going to see...

I'm so excited! Ha ha! It'll be a blast...

Dirtie Blonde

We had a nice Mother's Day in Milwaukee. We ended up going to a Ponderosa of all places. Everything was booked so we figured, what the hell? Hadn't been there in years but afterwards we ended up at the casino and I won $75! Not bad huh? Can use that towards movers. I was exhausted all day because we went out the night before w/ my cousins and did some damage at Bryant's. As much as I love Chicago, I have to say that Milwaukee has the best bars where you can just go and chill and have a drink. We need more places like that here.

Only 2.5 weeks left to pack! You know what I'll be doing every free second I have :P

So my boo boo gave me a promo cd this past weekend that I'm really digging. The name of the band of is Dirtie Blonde and I can not get enough of them! I totally dig their sound. It's very pop/rock but their music is very rich, there are lots of gorgeous textures. The lead singer's voice is really cool. There's a bit of gritiness to her voice (which I LOVE). The CD doesn't even come out until tomorrow, but I highly recommend it. I've been listening to it all weekend!

As always don't forget to visit our new music blog MILK CARTON POP STARS!

A Question Of Lust

So tonight my Milwaukee Sister and I are going to see Depeche Mode at the Allstate Arena. I'm rather excited as I've been a fan for quite some time. I've tried to not spoil it for myself and look at the setlist. I actually enjoyed their last album so I won't care if it's too heavy on the new tracks. But I'm hoping for some classics as well. To prepare for tonight's show I have to share this video I found on youtube. Actually my Greek slutty lifer Kelly had already sent it to me awhile back but I accidently deleted the email. Just watch and lust for your self...

HOLY SHIT! I want to be his hand right now. LOL! I've had a crush on Dave Gahan for years! It's a combination of his voice (I think it's the sexiest male singing voice EVER) and the fact that I think he's super hot. Look at that schnoz (spelling??) on him! Grrrrr! He makes me feel all special down there. Tee hee.

Pimpinela last night was fun. Though the staff at the House Of Blues are idiots. If you change your policiy and do not let people enter w/ backpacks, tell them while they are in line not when they are going to enter the show. Nor should you be made to go to the restaurant coat check only to be told it's closed and to use the venue coat check and have the bitchy queen tell you NO again and to go to the hotel and check it only to tell you that they only check bags for guests. Whew! The bellhop was nice enough to let me check it anyway. What assholes I tell you. You know I will be writing a letter to the management telling them what idiots their security people are.

Is it Friday yet? This week has been dragging! Did you guys watch Top Model last night? Jade is still there why? I'm really rooting for Danielle. But I won't be too upset if Joanie wins either. She's great as well. But Jade...uh. Gross.

Gots to go. Ta ta!

De repente

Tonight is the Pimpinela concert at the house of blues. It's going to be camp-tastic!

Last night I read on SayHey that Soraya was on her deathbed and had written a letter to her fans. I was really saddened to hear that her cancer was back and ever sadder to hear that she passed away this morning.

I was a big fan of her music since her first single Suddenly back in 1996. A great loss.

In other news I just looked at the calendar and realized we have roughly 3.5 weeks to pack. I know that sounds like a lot, but it's really not. This weekend we are going out of town to visit my Mom for Mother's Day (btw today is Mother's Day in México) and next Saturday is the RBD concert. So I have to start hauling ass this Fri & Sat to get a jump start on it. Ahh!

If you haven't already PLEASE CHECK OUT THE FABULOUS NEW BLOG MILK CARTON POP STARS!!!!

I can die now

So after a hearty meal at Burger King we headed over to Douglas Park to attempt and meet Bibi Gaytán. We finally made our way our way to the mass they were holding and immediately spotted Bibi and the other celebs on stage...

We made our way to the back of the stage and decided to wait there until the mass was over. After frying in the sun for 1.5 hours (I am sure I will be paying for it tomorrow), the mass finally finished. Bibi and the others made their way off the stage. She was busy taking pics w/ some people backstage so I told Rob to yell out her name while I held up her debut LP. Well that immediately got her attention and as soon as she saw it she finished posing for a picture and made her way over to us!!!! I was so nervous as I already said I have been a huge geeky fan since I was 15. Anyhoo she rushed over to us and gave us both kisses on the cheek (I'm not washing my face...LOL) and said hola, tuve que venir porque miré que tenian mi disco. I don't even remember all that I said, I just remember I asked her when she was recording a new album and she mentioned that in the future she may record again and then I told her I was a huge fan and that I had been one since I was 15 and that I was almost 30 now. Anyhoo...here are some pics of her signing my LP:

I was just floored by how sweet she was and how beautiful she was! She looked amazing! She's hasn't aged at all! She is still a knockout after all this years. The meeting could not have been complete w/out la foto del recuerdo

I swear to god I can die in peace now! Check out how she's pointing to the LP and what's w/ that broad to the left of me? Whatever!

I've just been geeking about this all day. Of all my divas that I finally get to meet! Bibi Gaytán!!!!! I am still smiling just thikning about today's events :) I hope to god she really does release another album. She has a lovely voice and it's a shame her music was so overlooked during her heyday.

I must go to bed now as it's getting late. BTW...did I mention I met Bibi Gaytán today?

Bibi te amo

So Friday my boyfriend tells me there is an interview w/ his #1 diva Daniela Romo in the newspaper HOY. So I'm sitting on the train going home and I notice this man sitting in front of me is reading it, so I start to peak over his shoulder. Next thing I know he turns the page and who do I see? BIBI GAYTÁN and the words cinco de mayo...I was puzzled so the minute I get off the train I run to the nearest newstand and find a copy....what do I see??? Some cinco de mayo festival at Douglas Park is having Bibi Gaytán and some other celebs as ther special guests of honor! HOLY SHIT!

When I was 15 (1992) I became obsessed w/ Bibi. I just thought she was the most beautful thing! I know I've gushed about my love for her on this blog before, but seriously she's been one of my faves ever since. She has to be the most beautiful woman ever to come out of Timbiriche. So today after we sign our lease we are heading on over to the festival so we stalk her! Yes! LOL. All I want is an autograph and a picture and tell her what a big fan I am. Come on I own not only her 2 solo albums but every novela soundtrack she was on as well! I still have her slutty calendar from 1994! Oh yeah Eduardo Capetillo is gonna be there too. Boo. Wish me luck guys.

So this talk of Bibi got me thinking of this next clip I'm about to share w/ you all. Bibi's signature song Mucha mujer para ti is actually a cover of Spanish singer Vicky Larraz. If you don't know who she is, it wouldn't surprise me as most people this side of the atlantic don't. Vicky you see was the original lead singer of Olé Olé way before Marta Sánchez was their vocalist. Anyhoo....Olé Olé's first single was written and produced by Nacho Cano of Mecano. I am sure you all know this one...

Yes it's No controles. This was actually done in 1983, way before the version by Flans which many of us know and love (their version is from 1985). Funny that it wasn't until years later that I knew this version even existed. As much as I love the bubblegum pop that is Flans's version, I must say I really like the synthier version that was done by Olé Olé just a little better. Enjoy! Hope everyone's having a great weekend.

Sunnyside

Happy cinco de mayo everyone! Here is my obligatory Mexican outfit photo from my childhood :) Some of you may have seen it on my myspace profile.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

So what was up w/ Jade being picked over Furonda??? Granted Furonda weighs like 4 lbs, her photos kept getting better and better. But I won't dwell on this anymore, I'd like to direct you to Rich's hilarious recaps instead. He rocks hard! I think I have a blog crush on him. There I've said it!

Speaking of TV...I did some catching up on some shows I missed. First up was Simple Life 3: Interns. This had to be the funniest one yet! Nicole Richie just cracks me up!!! I loved it. I especially could not get enough of this stupid song they would sing again and again. I have no idea what they are saying. Any guesses? I think they are saying "Sunnyside". But people at youtube tend to think they are saying salsa. Salsa? I don't hear that all. You won't be able to get it out of your head for days (ask Rob as I've been annoying him for days)...

I also went ahead and rented season 1 of Degrassi: The Next Generation. Twinny have you seen it? The first 2 episodes were great cause it was the 10 year reunion of the Degrassi High cast! So they actually had a ton of the actors there for the reunion scenes! It was great! I wish they all had speaking lines though. Anyhoo overall the show is ok. I mean it's addicting and all, it's great seeing Spike as Emma's mom and Snake as one of the teachers. But overall it seems like a rehash of the original. Too many similarities. But it pales in comparison to the original. It doesn't have the charm and innocence of the 80s series. Plus the original was really groundbreaking. This new one seems to polished for my tastes. Plus that awful theme song! Sounds like a throwaway song from the Sister Act soundtrack!

Enough ranting. Have a good weekend!

Ode to Dookie

Por fin

We found a place! It's only 4 blocks away from our current place and we sign our lease Sunday! Yeah! I feel so relieved. I found this one on my own too. I was sick of looking at the same ads on craigslist.org and after seeing 10 apartments I was just plain stressed out. I really liked this place, we saw it again last night. Filled out the application and the same day we got a call saying the place was ours :) Yay! Now the fun part...the packing. More later.

Dos

Today is a special day. Today is Chus's 2nd birthday! Happy birthday baby! I remember when we saw an ad in late '04 on craigslist that a 7 month old puppy needed a good home. We called, we saw him and I instantly fell for this little mop top :) Here's what he looked like when he first came to live w/ us:

Look at all that fur! How cute! He took to us really fast. We hit a rough patch last spring with his getting sick and needing surgery. He's all better now and today we are celebrating his 2nd birthday! Here's the birthday boy last night at midnight w/ his special present...

You can also see Chus's new summer 'do! As you can tell he quickly took to his present...

Chus and Curious George are new best friends! It's amazing to me that something that only weighs 14 lbs can give us so much joy. He's such a little character and I am so happy he's part of our family. I still have yet to give him his cake. I found a dog bakery in Lincoln Park called Galloping Gourmutts that make all natural dog treats :) I'm sure I'll have some more pics to share later. Everyone wish a happy birthday to our baby!

On a more serious note, I took today off to show my support for the nationwide boycott. Though I am not partaking in the march I am there in spirit. As a child of an immigrant, this subject really hits home for me. To those of you who chose to partake, I commend you.

Another day, another apartment. We have an appointment tonight to see yet another place. Wish us luck!

Gira que gira

So the apartment search continues. Last week I saw 7 places and not really any that I loved. I was kinda excited about the place down the block from us, but by the time I had gotten around to calling again it was already rented. They were like we have a beautiful garden apartment available. Eeew no. I don't do garden apartments. I think they are dirty, I think of mice, floods, etc. No. So tomorrow I am seeing 2 more places, 1 here in Logan Square and another in Lincoln Square. Sista M, Lincoln Square is north of us on the brown line, rather close to Ravenswood. It's really north I know, but it's such a cute neighborhood. Rob and I are open to both neighborhoods. I shall keep looking...the perfect place will come along.

With all this apartment searching, part of me feels like I should own something by now. My finances however do not permit it right now. Next time we move I hope it's into a place of our own :)

So I the other day my boo boo asked me if I knew what the hell was going on w/ former Mexican teeny bopper Lynda?

It's been a few years since her last album Polen. If you don't remember her, she was burst onto the Mexican pop scene in the mid 90s. I guess you could say she was the Christina to Fey's Britney. Her sound was euro pop/dance, and it's oh so fun! I never understood why the far less superior Fey was more popular. I mean Lynda was much prettier (Fey was and is a dog), her songs were just as catchy (actually a lot catchier if you ask me), she had a nice voice (then again Fey isn't known for her uh voice), oh and she was actually a teen (14 at the time of her debut), not in her 20s like Fey. Ha ha! Anyhoo turns out she's been working on a new album for awhile. After her going into a more pop/rock sound w/ her third and fourth albums, I hear she's doing a follow up in both English and Spanish. Well her husband is Carlos Lara, who also produced all of her albums, and who is responsible for producing RBD. Turns out Lynda has been doing background vocals for them (and probably singing too) and even wrote their current single No pares. It's nice to know she's at least making $$ during her time away.

Anyhoo the reason I even posted this was because today while I was searching on youtube I came across her first ever music video! I know some of you locas remember this one...

I love it so hard! The lyrics are über fresa, but I can't get enough of it! I swear someday I will do this song in drag w/ a mini backpack and all!

Quickly, I need to wish a happy belated birthday to Patty GOL! Ramirez! I love you pilas! Speaking of birthdays, Monday Chus turns 2! Peace out trout!

Choi's

So yesterday we decided to get take out from our favorite Chinese restaurant in our neighborhood. For any of you who live in the Logan Square area, I'm talking about Choi's which is right on Milwaukee & Kedzie. It is the BOMB! I've never had such good chinese food in my life. It was a total run down dive, and I don't think I'd actually eat there in person, but in the comfort of my own home...gurl...ain't no stopping me. Recently we noticed it was closed for renovation. I figured, the old Chinese couple was fixing it up a bit. Well last night we found out it is under new management. Now they have fancy take out dishes and the food does not taste anywhere as good as it used to. So this leads me to our apartment quest (which is still on). We've been toying w/ the idea of looking in other areas besides Logan Square. Quite frankly the rent is going up really high in this area and I've seen a total of 7 places and nothing that really excites me. I'm beginning to get frustrated.

So I take Choi's going to the shitter as a sign we should look elsewhere. We're thinking Lincoln Square. It's a nice area. I think this Saturday I'm gonna walk around and look for any for rent signs. Hopefully we can find something soon that suits our needs (both financially and location-wise).

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love my late 80s/early 90s music. Today's video I'm sharing w/ you is from the best female rapper to ever come out of the UK...Betty Boo!!!!

Ms. Boo is currently 1/2 of the UK duo WIGWAM. Check out their site here.

Gallery 12

I was recently going through some old boxes and I came across an old sketchbook of mine from when I was 12. We're talking 1989 here. The entire thing was drawings like the following. LOL! Enjoy! Remember I was 12 when I did these, so be nice!

About 50% of the drawings were of Martika but I this was my fave! Ha!

Of course there had to many Tiffany drawings. Notice the detail in her hair. LOL!

I couldn't do Tiffany and leave Debbie Gibson out could I?

Image hosting by Photobucket

Even back then I only liked Madonna w/ dark hair! LOL!

Exposé would be proud of my sketch!

I even did one of The Cover Girls! Pencil only, maybe cause in the future I knew the memebers would change like a hooker's panties, so I could erase them! Ha!

Enjoy!

LECHE

This Sat. is the Fobia concert! I'm so excited...I haven't seem them since they played the House of Blues here back in 96(?). So I was digging around on youtube.com and came across this video:

Diablo was the first time I had ever seen/heard Fobia and I just remember being so mesmerized by the song, by Leonardo's blue feather boa. I have to say they are probably my favorite rock en español band of all time and I am super geeked that I will be seeing them this weekend :) I love their quirkiness and their hunky lead singer doesn't hurt either!

In other news I saw 2 more places last night. One I LOVED but was really out of our price range, and to be quite honest was kinda in the crappy part of Logan Square. The other one, which is 1.5 blocks down the block from us, is really a great option both financially (heat is included) and location wise (hello it's a block away from where we are now!). So I am going to go ahead and have them put it on hold. I'm also gonna be looking at other places this weekend. This is so stressful as I just want to know where we'll be living. Plus I think if we were to get this place it won't be as traumatic for Chus, as it's only down the block and we can still see all his buddies in the neighborhood :)

Dump #1

So I knew there was going to be something wrong w/ the place we saw yesterday. Shit hole is more like it. It was just gross. Tonight I am seeing another place, so wish me luck on this one! Nothing can be as bad as what I saw yesterday.

So my Sista M called me all excited to tell me that the Freestyle Extravaganza mega concert would be making it's way to Chicago. He then proceeded to tell me who was playing, it's a who's who of freestyle has-beens: Cynthia, Lisa Lisa, George Lamond, Shannon, Johnny O, Judy Torres, Cover Girls (the current WTF lineup), Noel, TKA...! OMG we have to go I quickly replied. When is it? May 20. Ugh. I can't go :( That's the same day as RBD. I know! But...these freestyle has been mega shows come to Chicago at least every year. But in the past we've never been able to go. It was too good to be true. I guess I'll have to wait this one out and go next time. I was so looking foward to dancing and singing along w/ all the South Side hoochies.

Almost forgot...check out this parody that Peaches did of MY HUMPS by BEP called MY DUMPS...you can download the mp3 here! It's a hoot!

Bees

Easter weekend was relaxing, thank god! Chus got his hair cut (all of it!!) he looks like a Chihuahua right now! Adorable...I'll post pics later. Poor thing was traumatized. My mom came to visit and we did some shopping in Lincoln Park on Saturday (not my favorite neighborhood, but good for shopping nonetheless). Of course I had to stop at the used cd store. They were giving away this sampler of this new band w/ any purchase, so I took one. Glad I did cause I'm totally digging it! Not sure how to descripe them. Alternative-lite pop w/ a touch of Russian? They're great! Their name is Persephone's Bees

and this is their official website. You can also check them out on itunes here. I think some of you guys would like them, especially my twin blogger. Sista M there are even hot remixes of their first single Nice Day. Their debut album is to come out in June.

So the apartment hunt is on! I have an apointment to see a place tonight, it's rather cheap so I'm a bit skeptical. But tomorrow I am looking at a place literally 1.5 blocks down the street from us! I hope I like that place cause the move would be beyond easy. Thanks for those of you who have been sending listings my way. I appreciate it :)

Under Pressure

You know how just a few days ago I was bitching and moaning about how Dannii Minogue isn't releasing a proper follow up to NEON NIGHTS, but rather a Greatest Hits + 6 songs? Well after seeing her newly updated website, it eased the pain a bit (they really outdid themselves)...but now I have just seen the new video for her brand new single SO UNDER PRESSURE....HOLY BALLS THIS SH*T IS HOT!!! This is by far one of Dannii's best singles...EVER! Wow! I can't wait for the remixes! Check it out...
