EVERYDAY IS HALLOWEEN

Happy Halloween Everyone! I know it's been ages since I've updated, but work is crazy and unfortunately there are always too many people bothering me, so I can not sit here and type out my blog entries as I should be. Hello?? Don't they know this is more important? Anyhoo...today is Halloween. My favorite holiday. Unfortunately we really didn't have the greatest time. We attempted to go to a party out in the burbs but there were too many ghetto people there, and just too many people in general. But...we did have some killer costumes. But before I get into that I have to share the most adorable thing in the world...my baby Chus's costume...

Isn't he adorable??? We took him to PetSmart last week to get his Halloween picture taken. Awwww! Now on to the costumes. With Rob's permission, I am posting his picture. He wasn't really sure what to be so he kinda let me have free reign. This is what I came up with....a CHOLA! Unfortunately there actually were a couple of cholas probably at that party. But none as pretty as my boo boo.

As everyone knows I am obsessed w/ REBELDE so I knew this year I would have to go as one of the characters. I knew I wanted to be one of the school girls, but didn't know which one. Let's just say that this wig found me and I was met to be MIA COLUCCI (aka Anahí)! LOL! Before she became anorexic of course. O sea...hello!!

And yes I shaved my legs. Ouch! Don't know how you gays (and dragqueens) do it! The one upside of the party was seeing the old gang. We ended up going w/ Freddy and crew to some divey southside bar. Wasn't the funniest place but we were all dressed up and nowhere to go. We made the best of it though. We have vowed that next year we are gonna do our own party because nothing really is more fun unless u are in control of the music, guests, booze, etc.

So on Sunday (yesterday) I attended a wedding. Unfortunately Rob could not attend because of work, so I got a substitute (Freddy). Yesenia is a very good friend of mine and though we don't hang out as much as we used to, I love the girl to death! We've been through a lot together. Ramiro anyone? LOL! She looked gorgeous. Actually she and her hubby have been married for about a year but it took awhile to actually get the church/reception part done. When they had the wedding party march and they announced them as Mr & Mrs. Delgado I actually was really fighting to hold back my tears. I was so happy for them. They really are the perfect match. Here is a pic of Ms. Yesy (aka vagina cochina...don't ask...inside joke!):

Whew! This is a long post I must say. Oh well...making up for lost time I guess. Anyhoo..I have to share w/ you all some of my latest obsessions. So I started watching this new (new to the US at least) British comedy Little Britain. It's hilarious!

The characters are hilarious, and I especially love Vicky Pollard :) She's a hoot!

So now that I've been blogging for so long, I'm barely starting to discover podcasts. So I've taken the plunge and have become addicted to one! It's actually my coworker Noah and 2 of his friends. They are hilarious!!!!!!! Noah as it is, is a funny as hell, but the 3 of these gals together crack me up! The show is called PNS Explosion and you can listen to them at www.pnsexplosion.com. Seriously I know several of you would enjoy them. The theme songs are the best, especially the main one! I can't stop singing it! It's fabu! Check out my favorite segment Straight Talk. BTW I was even mentioned in episode 18! As I said already, I am totally addicted and I can't help but gush over their show! Check 'em out and tell 'em Joe sent ya!

Remember...to me everyday is halloween

Nylon

Now that I have finally come down from my Fangoria high, I can now resume blogging. Since we didn't get to Greektown the day of the Fangoria concert, my Milwaukee Sister stopped at the CD shop in Greektown and picked me up the latest from Greek's reigning diva Anna Vissi:

Don't let the scary lesbo haircut turn you off, this cd is fuckin fierce! Wow! This is by far her best album since X! Wow! Wow! I can't stop listening to it. There is a nice balance or electronic, dance and rock. There is even one ethnic song I enjoyed. Lol! The name of the album is NYLON and you can order it here.

But that was not all that Sista M picked up for me. I saw this next guy on the Greek music site I frequent and it was lust at first site! He's friggin' hot! Grrr! Being the shameless homo that I am I had to have it for my cute boy collection. Not only is he cute, but the CD is actually good! Here are some pics of my new Greek boyfriend Sarbel. Can't find a website for him other than this fan site I found, but it's all in Greek. Anyway back to the pics:

Other than my new Greek CD's I've been jamming out to the new Depeche Mode, the new Fobia and mexican actress/singer Susana Zabaleta. She has an interesting voice, and I am growing fonder of it by the minute. Don't let me tell you how many times I've listened to RBD's new album! I swear sometimes I am a 15 year old girl. I would continue to write but I have work to do. Talk to you all later!

Who wants to buy my apples tonight?

What a weekend! I feel like I got no sleep whatsoever. I guess I am just spoiled by sleeping in on weekends, and this weekend there was NONE of that :( Friday was über long because I had to be in for an 8:30 meeting, which meant I really had to be in at 8am to set up. So I got in at 7:45, needless to say it didn't end up starting until after 10!!! I was annoyed. Needless to say the day was VERY LONG. I was supposed to go to a Fangoria fan gathering but that fell through. Kinda for the best because I was super tired and I had to clean our house.

Saturday my friend Juan from Milwaukee and his boyfriend Matt came to visit, so I had to have the house clean for their arrival. I dropped them off downtown to do some shopping and then Emilio came to pick me up to go to the Sara Valenzuela in-store @ Tower. We were the first ones there. We were fortunate enough to be the first ones to meet Sara. She was super sweet and we even joked around that we must be related. She signed my cd's (I brought all my old La Dosis cd's along). She gave a great mini performance. There was a nice turnout and like I said she was super sweet. If you haven't already get her debut CD. It's wonderful! A nice mix of electronic & rock. Here are some pics from the in-store including my picture w/ la prima.

So Saturday evening we stayed in and watched the 1979 classic La Ilegal starring Rob's favorite campy Mexican broad, Lucía Méndez. The movie was very telenovela about a woman's revenge on her lover after his wife has her deported and she attempts to reclaim her newborn son. The funniest part had to have been when Lucía's character gets a job as a go-go dancer and she dances for the patrons to a song where she repeats: Who wants to buy? Who wants to buy my apples tonight?. The funniest thing was she was dancing really slutty carrying a basket of apples. OMG! We could not stop laughing and could not stop singing this song! It was hilarious, hence the title of today's post.

Sunday morning I had to be up early as I had to go into the office for a few hours. So I stayed until noon and then picked up my Milwaukee Sister to head over to Radio Arte were Fangoria were going to be signing autographs!! After some confusion, Rob was able to meet up w/ us. I had previously met Alaska during their last show here in Chicago, but I wanted to meet her again. Come on, she's my diva! My blog is named after an Alaska y Dinarama song, and my username is a reference to her character Bom from Pepi, Luci, Bom.... After her interview they let us in from the cold as we got to get some autographs. The funniest thing was she signed my DVD copy of Pepi, Luci, Bom... w/ the following: Joe, una golden shower, Bom! LOL! She signed her name as well, and my copies of Una temporada en el infierno & Arquitectura Efímera. Rob had her sign the Mexican edition of No es pecado and she signed it for the both of us :) Here is la foto del recuerdo of us w/ the Mexican Acid Queen herself...

We were also lucky enough to meet Nacho Canut, Alaska's musical partner in crime, outside the radio station. After the meet & greet, we headed over to Sista M's fierce new apartment, w/ the intention of going to Greektown to get the new Anna Vissi CD but by the time we finally left the CD store was closed! We ended up getting to the Metro @ 6pm. Like the loser I am I was the first person in line! After freezing our asses off for awhile, they finally let us in I was smack dab in the middle in the front row!! Sara Valenzuela did a great set and even did Paraiso by La Dosis! After a very quick intermission, the lights dimmed and it was on...I think I wet myself from the excitement. I can't even describe how great it was. Alaska just works it on stage and the band were awesome!!! The setlist was awesome. I don't even know what to say about it. The show was just over an hour and a half. They did 2 encores. As a special treat the closed w/ ¿A quién le importa?, a song that Alaska said they only do at Gay Pride, but as she said any day can be Gay Pride. I took over 160 pictures and will share them later, but in the meantime here are a few of my faves:

Thanks to Radio Arte for brining my diva back again :) It was a night to not be forgotten. Also I have to say it was so cool to meet other fans. Eddie and I thought we were the only ones. I met some nice fans that flew in from Texas & California to be at the show. This week is gonna be über busy so I decided to do a rather long post today. Take care everyone!!

Dos Auroras

So last night we attended a screening at the Chicago International Film Festival. Rob and I decided to go see a Mexican film by the name of Dos Auroras because it stars one of our all-time favorite Mexican actresses, María Rojo. Right before the film was about to start someone squeals and we look down and in walks María Rojo and director Jaime Humberto Hermosillo!!!! Holy shit!!!! For those of you who don't know, both are quite reknowned and respected when it comes to Mexican cinema. So after the film ended they had a brief Q&A w/ the director and María. So as soon as it was over we ran down to meet María. Luckily for us, I ran into a guy I knew from way back from Milwaukee and he was kind enough to take a photo of Rob and I w/ María and Jaime. OMG!!! I still can't believe we got to meet María Rojo!!! We had no idea she was even gonna be there. Of all the nights we could have gone to see a screening of. Someone wanted us to meet her. We didn't get to speak to her that long, but Rob managed to ask her when Danzón was gonna be released on DVD. She said it would be coming out soon in the US (about time). I wish I would have had more time to tell her how much I admire her, but I didn't want to sound like a gushing teenager. Anyway I just wanted to share my geeky story w/ you all. As for the movie itself. Wow! It was shot digitally, and the performances were top notch, especially María. Very highly recommended.

Apart from our excitement of last night, I went to Milwaukee on Friday night to visit my Mom and go out w/ my cousins to Bryants. It was a good time, and me and my Mom got to spend some time together. She brought me back a ton of new CDs from Mexico. I'll post about them later. Let me say the new Fobia cd f*cken rocks!

I know I rarely post on the weekends, let alone from home, so I will bid you all farewell for now. I have to be a chacha today and clean this house!!! Plus I have some work to do for tomorrow as well. Take care everyone!!!

You Make Me Sick

So last night Rob notices that there is a car parked outside w/ a dog in it. Turns out the car had been sitting there for 4-5 hours! What kind of sick fuck would do that? Naturally I called 311 (Non-Emergency) and filed a complaint w/ the Animal Cruelty division. Fortunately they sent a squad car out, and some guy came out claiming the car was his. What a dipshit! About 20 minutes later he returned to the car w/ a woman and they let the dog out. I am sorry but that just makes me sooooo mad. I was gonna go out and say something when the cops showed up, but had second thoughts. I can't even leave Chus in the car for more than 1 minute w/out feeling guilty. Some people, I tell ya!

Image hosted by Photobucket.comSo any of you remember a commercial from the 80s about a skin cream called MOTHER OF PEARL?? I don't know why I find it so amusing to this day. There was this 60+ year old woman w/ a thick accent and she said something along the lines of this: Do you ever wonder why Asian woman look so youthfull? We have ancient secret, now we share w/ you. Mother of Pearl....blah blah blah. OMG! It was so un-PC!!! I've asked a few of my friends if they remember it, some say yes and others stare in disbelief. Certainly the commercial must be on line somewhere? Hmmm...I'll investigate and let you all know.

I've been able to catch up on my America's Next Top Model. I am so glad that Cassandra left! She was such a whiney bitch! Oh they want to cut more of my hair off...boo hoo. They need to get rid of the lesbo, she's so one-dimensional. Even though I think she's cocky as fuck, Lisa probably has a good chance. I also really like Coryn, Bre, and Nik. Now if only Tyra would finally release her trashy album. SHAKE YOUR BODY was fierce!

Before I leave you...the love of my life, aka Rob has taken the plunge and started his own blog! Check it out...An Honary Spanish Diva, I am. Due to his musical obsession w/ menopausal broads, I think the title is quite appropriate.

I must leave. I have a 9am meeting and want to actually show up on time! Ta-ta!

candy

This weekend my Milwaukee Sister and I had an IKEA shopping extravaganza! It was so much fun! I don't think I've laughed so much in a long time. We bought some fierce furniture for Eddie's new swanky apartment, as well as laughed our asses off, ate hot dogs, checked out cute boys (that cashier and the guy in the army pants...woooh! hot!). I have to say the funniest part was us two nellies trying to lug three carts through the store, one of which had a sofa/loveseat on it. What was even funnier was trying to figure out how the hell we were gonna get it on top of my SUV. I swear the stares we got. We made it home ok w/ the sofa on top and after several hilarious attempts, we got everything into his place! All this was done via a fabulous playlist I made on my ipod entitled **SISTA M IKEA THROWDOWN**! It was hot! We only made it through 22 of the 50 songs, but we had a blast jamming out to old school Vanessa Williams, Jasmine Guy, Avenue D, Dannii Minogue, Cover Girls, Denise Lopez, etc.

Just an FYI to those of you in the Chicago area, Sara Valenzuela will be doing an in-store @ Tower Records on Clark on Friday October 14. I believe it's at 5pm.

If you haven't check out her debut solo album it's really a cool chill type album. Glad to see she's still out there after La Dosis disbanded.

This is obviously in conjunction w/ her appearance @ the Metro, where she will be opening for Fangoria!!! Speaking of here is a flyer for the show that I borrowed from Radio Arte's website:

Don't forget it's Sunday, October 16 and tickets are on sale now!.

So what's up w/ this weather? It is October 4th and it's like 80º out! WTF!!!???!!! Fall where are you?? Last week was such a tease when it was like 50º out. Word has it, it will be in the 50s later this week. Here's hoping!

So you know what comes out today? The new RBD album! I am such a homo! I can't believe how much I am looking forward to this. I even went to the local Puerto Rican cd store over the weekend, cause they never obey street dates, but they didn't have it yet. Here's something weird though. The other day when I typed in http://www.kabah.com.mx it took me to the new official site for RBD. Weird huh? You know what else comes out today? Cinderella on DVD! That was my favorite Disney movie as a kid. Can't wait! Ok peeps, I am out. BTW has anyone heard any info yet on the show Tiffany is doing in Chicago? I am the fan and am not having ANY LUCK! If you know leave a comment. Thanks!
