Heat is evil

I loathe summer. I like the social aspect of it, but that's about it. I can't believe how hot it was this weekend. The fact that our central air died last summer (and never got fixed) did not help matters. Fortunately for me my mom came up and helped us pack all weekend. Not much left, just little odds and ends, but the heat! I can't stand it! I was sweating like crazy walking to the train this morning and of course the train was SUPER PACKED. Ugh! I hate it!!! It's supposed to cool down, good because I can't deal with another 8,000º weather day!

Enough bitching. Just wanted to check in and tell everyone that I am alive! I'll leave you with a video to tide you all over until I resume blogging...

Aside from Bibi Gaytán, my other favorite Timbiriche, Sasha Sökol! Enjoy!

GLOW

Let's reminisce shall we? How many of you remember G.L.O.W.? Aka the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling? I fucking adored this show as a kid. It has to be the campiest thing ever! My 2 cousins and I growing up would play that we were them and even recorded ourselves singing the theme song back in the mid 80s when this was on! Now if that doesn't go on my top 10 list of the gayest things I ever did as a child...

Thanks to the gods at youtube I bring you the following:

I found write up about it and almost shit my pants when I found out that they released 3 best of DVDS!!!! And they came out in 2003!!???!!! How the fuck did I not know about this???

I remember always staying up late every Saturday night to watch this on Channel 58 in Milwaukee! Hot! Hot! I am so ordering these for myself so I can relive these magical moments of my youth right along w/ the likes of Spanish Fly, the Farmer's Daughters, Big Bad Voodoo Momma, etc..

I am so happy!

Anniversary

2 years ago this past May 20 I started this blog! Wow! For shits and giggles, here's my very first post!

In honor of my blog's 2nd anniversary, let us watch a videoclip by Alaska y Dinarama performing the song that gave this blog it's name, Quiero ser santa:

Thanks for reading! I still find it hard to believe that some of you actually find what I have to say interesting. Love + Kisses!

Y soy rebelde

So sat. my friend Frank came down from Milwaukee to go w/ me to see RBD. It was a hoot! There were so many little kids dressed up in their uniforms, and some grown gay men (including my friend). He took pics, I'll share later. But in the meantime I found this clip on youtube that someone uploaded from Sat.'s show.

We had a blast, even if the reviewer from the Suntimes didn't feel the same way. Oh well.

We have 9 days left to pack! Ahhh! 9 days! Yesterday we took Frank to Maxwell Street to have an infamous huarache. Yummy. I totally lucked out and found season one of Charmed on DVD for only $20 brand new! It retails for like 40-50! I love Maxwell Street. After Frank left we ran some errands and then ended up going for Thai food (Thai Bowl in Little Italy). I don't know what happened, but I got really sick. I ate half my meal and then all I really wanted to do was go home. I went to bed, shivering like crazy and finally at some point my boo boo came to the rescue and gave me some OJ and some aspirin. I knocked out and this morning I felt a heck of a lot better!

No Thai (at least not Thai Bowl) for awhile!

EDIT

:

Here is a picture that my comadre took at the show!

BTW I think I know what made me sick. I realized the only thing I had that Rob didn't was a Thai Iced Tea. Never again...

YES!!!

Yes! Danielle's won America's Next Top Model!!!!!!! She so deserved it! I think I have restored faith in this show. This is the first time someone's won that I like since cycle 2's winner Yoanna. This season was great to watch and it totally makes up for the last 2 winners, Naima and Nicole. Sorry but Naima has the personality of a bucket of water and Nicole is so friggin' dull it hurts! I don't know who's My Life as a Cover Girl commercials are more boring? Yay for Danielle! BTW, wasn't it the best when Jade got voted off?

We actually watched the finale at my friend's house so her cat and Chus could have a play date :) Awwww...

2 more weeks to move! Ahhhh! My mom is coming up to help us pack next weekend. I packed 5 boxes Tuesday, so I need to haul ass tonight and tomorrow. Saturday I will have company because we're going to see...

I'm so excited! Ha ha! It'll be a blast...

Dirtie Blonde

We had a nice Mother's Day in Milwaukee. We ended up going to a Ponderosa of all places. Everything was booked so we figured, what the hell? Hadn't been there in years but afterwards we ended up at the casino and I won $75! Not bad huh? Can use that towards movers. I was exhausted all day because we went out the night before w/ my cousins and did some damage at Bryant's. As much as I love Chicago, I have to say that Milwaukee has the best bars where you can just go and chill and have a drink. We need more places like that here.

Only 2.5 weeks left to pack! You know what I'll be doing every free second I have :P

So my boo boo gave me a promo cd this past weekend that I'm really digging. The name of the band of is Dirtie Blonde and I can not get enough of them! I totally dig their sound. It's very pop/rock but their music is very rich, there are lots of gorgeous textures. The lead singer's voice is really cool. There's a bit of gritiness to her voice (which I LOVE). The CD doesn't even come out until tomorrow, but I highly recommend it. I've been listening to it all weekend!

A Question Of Lust

So tonight my Milwaukee Sister and I are going to see Depeche Mode at the Allstate Arena. I'm rather excited as I've been a fan for quite some time. I've tried to not spoil it for myself and look at the setlist. I actually enjoyed their last album so I won't care if it's too heavy on the new tracks. But I'm hoping for some classics as well. To prepare for tonight's show I have to share this video I found on youtube. Actually my Greek slutty lifer Kelly had already sent it to me awhile back but I accidently deleted the email. Just watch and lust for your self...

HOLY SHIT! I want to be his hand right now. LOL! I've had a crush on Dave Gahan for years! It's a combination of his voice (I think it's the sexiest male singing voice EVER) and the fact that I think he's super hot. Look at that schnoz (spelling??) on him! Grrrrr! He makes me feel all special down there. Tee hee.

Pimpinela last night was fun. Though the staff at the House Of Blues are idiots. If you change your policiy and do not let people enter w/ backpacks, tell them while they are in line not when they are going to enter the show. Nor should you be made to go to the restaurant coat check only to be told it's closed and to use the venue coat check and have the bitchy queen tell you NO again and to go to the hotel and check it only to tell you that they only check bags for guests. Whew! The bellhop was nice enough to let me check it anyway. What assholes I tell you. You know I will be writing a letter to the management telling them what idiots their security people are.

Is it Friday yet? This week has been dragging! Did you guys watch Top Model last night? Jade is still there why? I'm really rooting for Danielle. But I won't be too upset if Joanie wins either. She's great as well. But Jade...uh. Gross.

Gots to go. Ta ta!

De repente

Tonight is the Pimpinela concert at the house of blues. It's going to be camp-tastic!

Last night I read on SayHey that Soraya was on her deathbed and had written a letter to her fans. I was really saddened to hear that her cancer was back and ever sadder to hear that she passed away this morning.

I was a big fan of her music since her first single Suddenly back in 1996. A great loss.

In other news I just looked at the calendar and realized we have roughly 3.5 weeks to pack. I know that sounds like a lot, but it's really not. This weekend we are going out of town to visit my Mom for Mother's Day (btw today is Mother's Day in México) and next Saturday is the RBD concert. So I have to start hauling ass this Fri & Sat to get a jump start on it. Ahh!

If you haven't already PLEASE CHECK OUT THE FABULOUS NEW BLOG MILK CARTON POP STARS!!!!

I can die now

So after a hearty meal at Burger King we headed over to Douglas Park to attempt and meet Bibi Gaytán. We finally made our way our way to the mass they were holding and immediately spotted Bibi and the other celebs on stage...

We made our way to the back of the stage and decided to wait there until the mass was over. After frying in the sun for 1.5 hours (I am sure I will be paying for it tomorrow), the mass finally finished. Bibi and the others made their way off the stage. She was busy taking pics w/ some people backstage so I told Rob to yell out her name while I held up her debut LP. Well that immediately got her attention and as soon as she saw it she finished posing for a picture and made her way over to us!!!! I was so nervous as I already said I have been a huge geeky fan since I was 15. Anyhoo she rushed over to us and gave us both kisses on the cheek (I'm not washing my face...LOL) and said hola, tuve que venir porque miré que tenian mi disco. I don't even remember all that I said, I just remember I asked her when she was recording a new album and she mentioned that in the future she may record again and then I told her I was a huge fan and that I had been one since I was 15 and that I was almost 30 now. Anyhoo...here are some pics of her signing my LP:

I was just floored by how sweet she was and how beautiful she was! She looked amazing! She's hasn't aged at all! She is still a knockout after all this years. The meeting could not have been complete w/out la foto del recuerdo

I swear to god I can die in peace now! Check out how she's pointing to the LP and what's w/ that broad to the left of me? Whatever!

I've just been geeking about this all day. Of all my divas that I finally get to meet! Bibi Gaytán!!!!! I am still smiling just thikning about today's events :) I hope to god she really does release another album. She has a lovely voice and it's a shame her music was so overlooked during her heyday.

I must go to bed now as it's getting late. BTW...did I mention I met Bibi Gaytán today?

Bibi te amo

So Friday my boyfriend tells me there is an interview w/ his #1 diva Daniela Romo in the newspaper HOY. So I'm sitting on the train going home and I notice this man sitting in front of me is reading it, so I start to peak over his shoulder. Next thing I know he turns the page and who do I see? BIBI GAYTÁN and the words cinco de mayo...I was puzzled so the minute I get off the train I run to the nearest newstand and find a copy....what do I see??? Some cinco de mayo festival at Douglas Park is having Bibi Gaytán and some other celebs as ther special guests of honor! HOLY SHIT!

When I was 15 (1992) I became obsessed w/ Bibi. I just thought she was the most beautful thing! I know I've gushed about my love for her on this blog before, but seriously she's been one of my faves ever since. She has to be the most beautiful woman ever to come out of Timbiriche. So today after we sign our lease we are heading on over to the festival so we stalk her! Yes! LOL. All I want is an autograph and a picture and tell her what a big fan I am. Come on I own not only her 2 solo albums but every novela soundtrack she was on as well! I still have her slutty calendar from 1994! Oh yeah Eduardo Capetillo is gonna be there too. Boo. Wish me luck guys.

So this talk of Bibi got me thinking of this next clip I'm about to share w/ you all. Bibi's signature song Mucha mujer para ti is actually a cover of Spanish singer Vicky Larraz. If you don't know who she is, it wouldn't surprise me as most people this side of the atlantic don't. Vicky you see was the original lead singer of Olé Olé way before Marta Sánchez was their vocalist. Anyhoo....Olé Olé's first single was written and produced by Nacho Cano of Mecano. I am sure you all know this one...

Yes it's No controles. This was actually done in 1983, way before the version by Flans which many of us know and love (their version is from 1985). Funny that it wasn't until years later that I knew this version even existed. As much as I love the bubblegum pop that is Flans's version, I must say I really like the synthier version that was done by Olé Olé just a little better. Enjoy! Hope everyone's having a great weekend.

Sunnyside

Happy cinco de mayo everyone! Here is my obligatory Mexican outfit photo from my childhood :) Some of you may have seen it on my myspace profile.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

So what was up w/ Jade being picked over Furonda??? Granted Furonda weighs like 4 lbs, her photos kept getting better and better. But I won't dwell on this anymore, I'd like to direct you to Rich's hilarious recaps instead. He rocks hard! I think I have a blog crush on him. There I've said it!

Speaking of TV...I did some catching up on some shows I missed. First up was Simple Life 3: Interns. This had to be the funniest one yet! Nicole Richie just cracks me up!!! I loved it. I especially could not get enough of this stupid song they would sing again and again. I have no idea what they are saying. Any guesses? I think they are saying "Sunnyside". But people at youtube tend to think they are saying salsa. Salsa? I don't hear that all. You won't be able to get it out of your head for days (ask Rob as I've been annoying him for days)...

I also went ahead and rented season 1 of Degrassi: The Next Generation. Twinny have you seen it? The first 2 episodes were great cause it was the 10 year reunion of the Degrassi High cast! So they actually had a ton of the actors there for the reunion scenes! It was great! I wish they all had speaking lines though. Anyhoo overall the show is ok. I mean it's addicting and all, it's great seeing Spike as Emma's mom and Snake as one of the teachers. But overall it seems like a rehash of the original. Too many similarities. But it pales in comparison to the original. It doesn't have the charm and innocence of the 80s series. Plus the original was really groundbreaking. This new one seems to polished for my tastes. Plus that awful theme song! Sounds like a throwaway song from the Sister Act soundtrack!

Enough ranting. Have a good weekend!

Today is my lifer's birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TSOULA! Kelly is in Athens and reads this daily and I got to speak to that whore today for a bit! I miss you Kelly! Come back to Chicago NOW! COME NOW! DAMN IT JANET! I couldn't find a picture of Dookie Boots here at work, but I came up w/ this in the meantime. Her ultimate crush, a young Billy Idol

I present a brief poem in honor of my lifer's birthday (it doesn't rhyme but humor me anyway)...

Por fin

We found a place! It's only 4 blocks away from our current place and we sign our lease Sunday! Yeah! I feel so relieved. I found this one on my own too. I was sick of looking at the same ads on craigslist.org and after seeing 10 apartments I was just plain stressed out. I really liked this place, we saw it again last night. Filled out the application and the same day we got a call saying the place was ours :) Yay! Now the fun part...the packing. More later.

Dos

Today is a special day. Today is Chus's 2nd birthday! Happy birthday baby! I remember when we saw an ad in late '04 on craigslist that a 7 month old puppy needed a good home. We called, we saw him and I instantly fell for this little mop top :) Here's what he looked like when he first came to live w/ us:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Look at all that fur! How cute! He took to us really fast. We hit a rough patch last spring with his getting sick and needing surgery. He's all better now and today we are celebrating his 2nd birthday! Here's the birthday boy last night at midnight w/ his special present...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

You can also see Chus's new summer 'do! As you can tell he quickly took to his present...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Chus and Curious George are new best friends! It's amazing to me that something that only weighs 14 lbs can give us so much joy. He's such a little character and I am so happy he's part of our family. I still have yet to give him his cake. I found a dog bakery in Lincoln Park called Galloping Gourmutts that make all natural dog treats :) I'm sure I'll have some more pics to share later. Everyone wish a happy birthday to our baby!

On a more serious note, I took today off to show my support for the nationwide boycott. Though I am not partaking in the march I am there in spirit. As a child of an immigrant, this subject really hits home for me. To those of you who chose to partake, I commend you.

Another day, another apartment. We have an appointment tonight to see yet another place. Wish us luck!
